a. Construction and maintenance of Public Health facilities in Government buildings.
b. Construction and maintenance of Public Health facilities in buildings on behalf of other Departments and acquisition of land for these facilities (water supply, sanitation and sewerage) in buildings or Projects where such acquisition is not covered by Buildings and Roads Branch.
c. Settlement of claims of contractors relating to such works.
d. Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme and National Drinking Water Supply Technology Mission for rural areas.
e. Environmental Improvement Schemes and Low Cost Sanitation Programme in Scheduled Caste bastis.
f. Rural Water Supply Schemes.
g. Deposit Works of local authorities and other public sector organizations in the areas of water supply, sanitation, storm water, sewerage disposal, drainage etc.
h. Investigation and surveying the water supply and sewerage requirements for rural areas.
i. Execution of Low Cost Sanitation works in rural areas.

 

6.  Services provided by Deaprtment:

a. Providing water supply and Sewerage connections in rural areas of Punjab.
b. The Department endeavors to provide safe drinking water and sanitation facilities to rural habitations on sustainable basis.
c. To ensure permanent drinking water security in rural areas.
d. To promote conjunctive use of ground water, surface water and rain water harvesting to achieve sustainability.
e. To involve rural community in planning and execution of rural water supply schemes and to make the community capable of operation and maintenance of schemes on their own.
f. To improve rural hygiene by providing individual toilets and sewerage system.
g. To encourage the rural population to properly manage water supply and sanitation facilities to make villages Open Defection free.
