Reliance Jio to equip Government ITI’s, Polytechnics and Engineering colleges of Punjab with small cell network for free Wi-Fi
Chandigarh, May 18:
The Punjab Government to provide Free Wi-Fi facility in all Government ITI’s, Polytechnics and Engineering colleges of Punjab. Disclosing this here today Punjab Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi said that MOU for providing free Wi-Fi in all campuses of Government ITI’s, Polytechnics and Engineering colleges has been signed between Reliance Jio & Punjab Government.
Mr. Channi said that under the able guidance and advice of. Chief Minister Capt Amrinder Singh department of Technical Education has decided to set up free Reliance Jio Wi-Fi campuses in all the Government and aided ITI’s Polytechnics and Engineering colleges of the state. He said that this would provide free internet to the students for their academic needs and also encourage the system of cashless transactions & Digitalization.
Mr. Channi further disclosed that Reliance Jio would set up the infrastructure and provide its services free of cost. In addition, Reliance Jio would bear the cost of equipment and electricity required for the functioning of Wi-Fi. Reliance Jio will also block all objectionable websites as per Government of India directions.
‘All the Principals of respective Colleges have been directed to provide suitable space and security for Wi-Fi and other relevant network equipment’ added technical education minister.
Earlier the MOU for providing free Wi-Fi facility was signed in the presence of Punjab Government Officials Mr. M.P. Singh, IAS Addl. Chief Secretary, Technical Education and Industrial Training, Mr. Kahan Singh Pannu Secretary, Mr. Mohanbir Singh Additional Director Technical Education & representatives of Reliance Jio Mr.T.P.S Walia State Head & Vaibhav Mehra Marketing Head of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.
