Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) has been conceived in the light of experience of a non-plan scheme namely – Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) by National Crime Records Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs. CCTNS is a Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Pan of Govt. of India. CCTNS aims at creating a comprehensive and integrated system for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of policing through adopting of principle of e-Governance and creation of a nationwide networking infrastructure for evolution of IT enabled-state-of-the-art tracking system around ‘Investigation of crime and detection of criminals’.
In Punjab a total of 504 sites will be covered under CCTNS project, out of which 351 are the police stations. M/s TCS has been selected as system integrator at a total cost of Rs 29.3 Crores. M/s KPMG has been appointed as State Project Management Unit (SPMU) to assist Punjab Police in monitoring the entire project. Agreement with TCS was signed on 24th December’ 2012 and that with KPMG on 14th February’ 2013. For connectivity a service level agreement (SLA) has been signed between Punjab Police and BSNL.
As of date the SI has completed site survey for 388 sites and 204 sites have been prepared. BSNL has commissioned connectivity at 301 locations and as far as capacity building is concerned over 27000 personnel have been trained. Work is underway for data digitization and migration.
Current Status:
- 505 Saanjh Kendras (Front end) operational to deliver across the counter citizen services across the State of Punjab.
- 1-1.5 lakhs average citizen Service requests related to Police department processed per month.
